Where to Start Treatment

Experts agree that implementing effective intensive early intervention maximizes the possibility of permanent neural rewiring that can raise children's level of cognitive functioning.  While parents experience many emotions upon receiving a diagnosis of an ASD for their child, starting treatment as soon as possible is key.  However, it is important to strike a balance between a careful analysis of treatment options and beginning a program immediately.

Intensive early intervention can speed the learning process for a child with an ASD and can reduce or even eliminate potential behavioral challenges.  Early treatment strengthens children’s cognitive and communication development skills as well as their overall development skills.

Research indicates that early intervention can enable children with ASDs to one day lead productive lives and that, at the very least, they will do much better than they would without treatment.
